'''Patriarchal blessings''' are given to worthy members of the Church by ordained patriarchs. Patriarchal blessings include a declaration of a person's lineage in the house of Israel and contain personal counsel from the Lord. == Submitting Patriarchal Blessing Recommendations via LCR ==
Stake, Ward or Branch units that have access to the Patriarchal Blessing Submission System (PBSS) are encouraged to use the electronic system. Users with appropriate Ward and/or Stake access, can log-in to LCR via a supported web browser and from the '''Applications''' menu, select '''Patriarchal Blessings Submission'''.

Additionally, PBSS supports additional features not found in MLS:
* Improved process for sending recommendations to Patriarchs outside of the stake.
* Submitting recommendations for out-of-unit members (ie serving missionaries) - ''Stake President or stake delegated users only.''
* Manage and delegate users to submit recommendations at both the ward & stake level.

== Filling out the Patriarchal Blessing Recommend form via MLS ==
[[MLS]] contains the Patriarchal Blessing Recommend form. From the '''Reports/Forms''' menu, select '''Forms'''. Select the name of the recipient from the list of ward members. Most of the relevant information required for the form is filled in automatically.

[[Membership records]] in MLS do not hold information about whether a person has received a patriarchal blessing or not. If a unit leader requires this information to be held it could done using a [[Custom fields (MLS)|custom field]].

== Requesting a copy of a patriarchal blessing ==

A member may request a copy of his or her patriarchal blessing, or the blessing of a direct-line deceased ancestor, using the [https://apps.lds.org/pbrequest/ Patriarchal Blessing Request Form].

[[Ward clerk|Clerks]] may be asked by a member to help them obtain a copy of a patriarchal blessing. This can be done by following the instructions given on lds.org for [http://www.lds.org/churchhistory/archives/pbinfo Patriarchal Blessing Requests]. Members can obtain a copy of a patriarchal blessing for:
* Self
* A deceased spouse
* A deceased direct line descendant
* A deceased direct line ancestor

Alternatively, you may call (800) 453-3860 x23581 and listen to a recorded message which has the same information. If you have any additional questions you may call (800) 453-3860 x22272.

To request a copy of a patriarchal blessing, you need to supply the following information:
* If the request is for yourself, your [[Membership Record Number]]
* Name of person (as recorded on the blessing)
* Birth date
* Approximate year blessing was given
* Name of patriarch
* Stake where blessing was given
* Relationship to deceased individual
* Your mailing address

Send that information (by mail, or in person) to:

Please limit your requests to four per month for deceased ancestors. Priority is given to blessings for living persons (usually done within 15 days); for blessings of deceased persons, requests take longer, and are processed in the order received.
